Artist Bio
Ray Schwartz’s work includes photographs, paintings, drawings and mixed media. He received his BFA in Fine Arts/Painting and a minor in Photography. from the College for Creative Studies, Detroit, Michigan. After completing his degree, Ray left the country for over three years. Spending most of that time in Europe and living in West Berlin for one and a half years. In addition, he traveled East Africa for six months from 1982 to 1983, then returned to the states to live in New York City. Ray completed a MA in Media Studies from the New School for Social Research, and a MS in Library Science from Columbia University. Mr. Schwartz has lived in Jersey City since 1996. Mr. Schwartz's diverse body of work encompasses whether it is people within events and their environment or reflections on human built objects or statements at a certain place and time. The work is always about the appreciation and love of the moment. Focusing on where he lives in Jersey City and his extensive travels. He is currently working on three art books. One of which is exploring the various neighborhood bars and their communities of Jersey City
