| WE HAVE SELECTED THE CURATOR “Unbounded Nature” — Indoor Exhibition (Painting, Photography, Sculpture) Liberty State Park, Jersey City, NJ JCAST (Jersey City Art & Studio Tour) invites curatorial proposals for “Unbounded Nature,” an indoor exhibition at Liberty State Park focused on painting, photography, and sculpture. This exhibition explores how artists interpret nature, environment, and boundlessness through tangible, physical media, emphasizing craftsmanship, material, and visual storytelling within a historic indoor setting. Curatorial Vision “Unbounded Nature” centers on: • Nature as observed, imagined, and reinterpreted through traditional and contemporary visual art forms • The relationship between landscape, identity, and environment • The tension between natural systems and built environments • Personal and cultural narratives connected to nature • The focus is on wall-based and freestanding works that can be exhibited within a structured indoor layout. Artist Composition: The curator will build a roster of 30 artists, including: • High school student artists • Art Educators (selected in partnership with a local organization) • Artists from local Jersey City / New Jersey • Emerging, Mid-career, and Established artists Priority Outcomes Present a high-quality, accessible exhibition rooted in New Jersey’s artistic community Create meaningful integration between student, emerging, and established artists Activate an indoor space at Liberty State Park as a cultural destination Strengthen JCAST’s role as a platform for both professional and developing artists The final exhibition should reflect a multi-generational and community-rooted perspective. Scope of Work The selected curator will: Develop a clear curatorial framework for “Unbounded Nature.” Select and organize 20–30 artists across experience levels Coordinate the inclusion of student work and community-based artists Design the exhibition layout and flow Collaborate with JCAST on: Artist outreach and selection Community partnerships (schools, orgs) Public-facing programming (artist talks, walkthroughs) Submission Requirements Curatorial statement (max 500 words) Portfolio of past exhibitions (painting, photography, sculpture preferred) Optional: proposed artist list Be part of a call for artists CV or bio Description of connection to New Jersey. Shuttle with stops at 6-8 buildings with art studios Curated Bus Tours on: Photography, Ceramics, Textiles, & Sculpture Murals, Graffiti, and Public Art Latinx, Asian & Black Artists Music, Poetry, and Dance at the tour Tours will occur Saturday and Sunday, ideal: if you are able to do 2 trips per day, it incorporates JCAST exhibition spaces, plus a minimum of 12 -15 stops in a 3-hour period for curated tours. Please note that tours have to be at JCAST participant locations. ![]() CALL FOR ARTISTS FOR THE JCAST 2026 OFFICIAL TOTE BAG DESIGN Design the bag that carries Jersey City’s art. JCAST (Jersey City Art & Studio Tour) invites artists to submit original artwork for the official 2026 JCAST tote bag—a limited-edition piece that will be seen across the city during one of the region’s largest arts events. THE OPPORTUNITY • Your artwork featured on the official JCAST 2026 tote bag • Distributed to artists, VIPs, collectors, and attendees • Visibility across Jersey City during JCAST weekend and beyond • Featured in JCAST marketing, press, and social media THE THEME “Unbounded Nature” Interpret nature without limits—urban ecosystems, imagined landscapes, growth, resilience, and the intersection of nature and city life.
