About This Work

These works belong to my series “Everything is Cool”, all created over the last year. The language in my paintings and prints began back in 2016, after a very influential roadtrip across the Southwest two years prior. Inspired by the greats like Hockney and Ruscha, my work often depicts bright, Pop-like mountain landscapes which have been burned into my brain for so long now. With thousands of miles of open land traveled, there are always new forms left to translate into painting. The silkscreen print “New View” is an ode to the original painting that started it all, created exactly 10 years later

"Clavaria zollingeri" is inspired by a type of coral mushroom found in North America. This sculpture was created from a base of plastic water bottles and other recyclable materials, wrapped with newspaper and wheat paste, and finished with a layer of color paper with silkscreened strata lines. The use of plastic is important for my sculptures, as they represent a future where plastic has taken over and plants have adapted to grow with it as part of their ecosystem.
