About This Work

i create topographical landscapes which portray pieces of earth’s terrain – each piece an examination on the textures and beauty found in the simplest pieces of earth. I work with cotton, string, and fabric to create roots, textures of earth and water and cast shadows and catch light and become topography: twisted cotton mimics river systems carved by time, string suggests the skeletal remains of what once thrived, fabric layers create sediment, moss and other images of growth. These abstract dimensional landscapes which celebrate earth’s terrain through deliberate chromatic abundance.

Artist Bio

A psychology classroom, a restless student sketching in the margins, dreaming of journalism. One professor noticed me doodling and said four words that changed everything: “Take an art class” and one art class later changed my major. I have a BFA but ended up using my art background with a career as a Creative Director in advertising. Nearly 5 decades later I went back to my art roots. I only have a little over a year under my belt as an artist. I’ve had my work in the Art House Affordable Art Show. I’ve sold a few pieces and had one commission. My work is mixed media using fabric, string and found objects to create movement using texture and acrylic paint. My work can be found on Instagram.
