About This Work

This series transforms Claude Monet’s landscapes into hand-felted wearable art, translating his fascination with light, color, water, and fleeting moments into tactile wool. Across Water Lilies, Impression, Sunrise, Poppy Field near Argenteuil, each beret captures nature as an ever-changing experience rather than a fixed scene. By bringing these iconic compositions onto the body, the collection allows Monet’s landscapes to move beyond the frame and exist in a new dimension—worn, touched, and reinterpreted through movement. The slow, handmade process of felting mirrors Monet’s own attention to observation and perception, transforming memory of landscape into a living, wearable expression. Together, the works explore nature as both physical environment and emotional memory, transcending time and place through art, craft, and the human imagination.

Artist Bio

Xiaoran is the textile artist behind HeartFelt Layers which transforms wool fiber into wearable works of art through traditional needle-felting techniques. Drawing inspiration from art history, nature, and rural life, Xiaoran creates pieces that blur the boundaries between fine art, craft, and fashion. Her work often reinterprets paintings by artists such as Monet and Van Gogh, translating their color, atmosphere, and emotion into richly textured wool surfaces.
