Reveling in Time
2026
Acrylic, clay, coral, and plaster on wood board
18 × 24 inches
Reveling in Time pushes against the increasingly superficial frameworks through which we experience modern life — the pressure to resist aging, erase evidence of living, move faster, produce more, and exist within endless cycles of routine and performance. Through layered textures, erosion-like surfaces, and organic impressions, the work explores the tension between controlling change and surrendering to it.
Rather than existing in despair, the piece honors the quiet transformation that emerges when we stop resisting time. The layered surfaces become a record of existence — preserving marks of growth, decay, memory, and resilience — inviting us to exist fully within time rather than against it.
Artist Bio
Shana Rubin is a visual artist whose process is rooted in an exploration of the natural world, intuition, and the unseen connections that shape our experiences. Working with organic materials and mediums including printmaking, clay, plaster, encaustic, textiles, and fiber, she creates layered abstract works that capture movement, energy, texture, and transformation. Guided by her subconscious, Rubin’s practice explores themes of interconnectedness, energetic flow, memory, and feminine wisdom. Her background in psychotherapy, combined with a deep connection to ancestral lineage and the rhythms of nature, informs an intuitive visual language. Through impressions, texture, and material exploration, each piece becomes a record of process — revealing stories of connection, resilience, and change.
