(This is my second submission) Riverview-Fisk Park translates the landscape and infrastructure surrounding the historic Jersey City park into a layered wooden assemblage. Inspired by the park's overlook of the Manhattan skyline, the work explores the contrast between natural and industrial environments through relief, texture, and abstraction. Built from plywood, paper, string, acrylic, and spray paint, the composition references weathered architectural surfaces, pathways, and urban landmarks. The varied textures symbolize cycles of growth, erosion, and renewal, inviting viewers to consider how memory, place, and the built environment continuously shape one another.
Artist Bio
Corey Robinson is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose work transforms the textures and structures of everyday environments into layered abstract narratives. Working across sculpture, relief, painting, and mixed media, he combines found materials with tactile processes to explore memory, place, and material experimentation. Inspired by urban landscapes and natural forms, Robinson builds richly textured surfaces that blur the boundaries between painting and sculpture. His practice invites viewers to slow down, observe overlooked details, and reconsider the relationship between the built environment, nature, and personal experience.
