Artist Bio
Arlaina Tibensky is a ceramicist based in Project Studios in New Jersey, known for her vivid, free-spirited pieces. Inspired by ancient Mayan earthenware, Glam Rock, and the vibrant work of Oaxacan wood carvers, she works primarily in wheel thrown stoneware forms that she embellishes with hand-built elements and decorates with a combination of hand-painted underglazes, oxides, and glazes. Arlaina Tibensky’s whimsical and surreal work has been exhibited at Project Studios, Fun and Functional at Maker’s Ceramic shop, and one of her “stay wild” mugs was featured in the most recent national Potters Rise Up Clay for a Cause fundraiser for the ACLU and other charities. She is currently working on larger cat-adjacent pieces for the upcoming Atacama Clay Studio’s Cats for Clay Gala and Fundraiser in the fall and is always pushing her unique voice in clay to the limit.
